Environmental Advisory Council (EAC)
The NYISO Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) assists the NYISO in creating and maintaining its environmental policies. The council:
- Advises the NYISO on the environmental consequences of NYISO practices and policies.
- Makes the NYISO aware of environmental implications of future initiatives planned by the NYISO and the power industry.
- Explores ways for ISOs and RTOs to help reduce the environmental impact of electricity generation in appropriate regions
The seven-member council is made up of industry experts with experience in electric power generation and transmission, environmental policy, science,
technology, regulatory affairs, renewable energy and demand response.
Role of the EAC
The EAC provides advice to the NYISO President & CEO on issues raised
by the NYISO. Information provided by the EAC will relate to questions regarding the environmental
consequences of NYISO practices and operations, the environmental impacts
on future projects involving power markets and system reliability, and on
issues pertaining to the environmental impact of electricity generation in
appropriate regions.
