As the independent organization responsible for operating the power grid and wholesale energy markets in New York State, the New York ISO is an authoritative source of information about energy generation and transmission.

The past few weeks have seen a number of extraordinary developments and policy announcements that will shape the energy grid in the years to come. This month’s Grid Rewind highlights some of the important changes affecting the New York grid, including:

Road to 2040, Part 1 

The Road to 2040 blog series discusses the changes coming to the New York energy grid in the next 20 years, and how the New York ISO is preparing for them. One discussed Reserve Margins and Why They Matter, documenting how we use the Installed Reserve Margin to meet electric demand and to comply with regional reliability rules.

In the past month, we announced NYISO leadership participation in a recent FERC conference on the capacity market and the appointment of two NYISO Board of Directors members.
 

We are an independent, not-for-profit corporation responsible for operating the state’s bulk electricity grid, administering New York’s competitive wholesale electricity markets, conducting comprehensive long-term planning for the state’s electric power system, and advancing the technological infrastructure of the electric system serving the Empire State.
