November 29, 2023 | Rensselaer, NY – The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) today released its 2023-2032 Comprehensive Reliability Plan (CRP), which highlights growing risks to electric system reliability, including: projected increases in peak demand due to electrification of the transportation and building sectors; additional generator deactivations; delayed implementation of planned infrastructure projects; and extreme weather. The CRP, issued biennially, sets forth a plan to maintain a reliable bulk electric grid based on expected changes and conditions over a ten-year planning period.

November 20, 2023 | Rensselaer, NY – The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) today issued its Short-Term Reliability Process Report, which finds that peaker plants scheduled for retirement in May of 2025 must remain in service temporarily to keep the grid reliable in New York City. Peaker plants are relied upon as a last resort when consumer demand is highest.

May 23, 2023 | Rensselaer, NY -- The New York Independent System Operator today reported that New York set a new record for solar generation on Thursday, May 18. During the noon hour that day, a combination of behind-the-meter (BTM) solar and front-of-the-meter (FTM) solar generated 3,330 megawatts (MW). BTM accounted for 3,200 MW and FTM accounted for 130 MW. Together, BTM and FTM solar provided approximately 20 percent of New York’s electricity demand during this hour.

This role also serves as the NYISO’s Consumer Interest Liaison. Dr. Bouchez had served as a Principal Economist – Market Design for the NYISO since 2011. She initially joined the NYISO in 2003 in the Market Mitigation and Analysis Department and was promoted to head that department in 2006.
