ENERGY STORAGE NEWS | Eastern Generation gets permit for 135MW battery storage at New York fossil fuel plant site

Approval has been granted for construction of a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) at the site of an existing fossil fuel power plant in New York. Last week, New York State Public Service Commission approved an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity, filed by power plant owner Astoria Generation for construction of a 135MW BESS at the site of Astoria Generating Station, a 959MW fuel oil and natural gas plant.
