The New York Independent System Operator's annual “Power Trends” report, released on Wednesday, offers a glimpse of the steps it needs to take to ensure reliability in a completely decarbonized grid by 2040. NYISO President and CEO Rich Dewey said new technologies that can quickly ramp up electric generation will be needed to balance intermittent renewables to make sure the lights stay on.
