VIDEO: People Who Power New York: A Gamer's Approach to Successful Cybersecurity Strategy

July 23, 2020

In elementary school, Celia Sieg helped her teachers learn how to use their computers.

In 7th grade, she programmed a computer game to get students to have fun while learning French. So of course she attended a tech school, the Rochester Institute of Technology, though she initially took a liberal arts path in public policy.

It wasn’t until going back to school to earn a master’s degree that she decided to specialize in information technology.

Today, she is our enterprise security program lead. She works with our cybersecurity strategic plan, understanding the current cyber-technology landscape in our tech-heavy world, and helping our staff to reduce risk and avoid cyber risks. To her, the work she does now is not that different than the projects occupying her time as a young student. Except her mission today includes critical work that keeps the lights on for an entire state. “I feel like I’m doing something valuable every day when I come to work.”

Watch Celia's story now.
