New Report Details New York ISO's Corporate Social Responsibility

April 15, 2020

Running a reliable electric grid takes dedication. So does caring about our neighbors. That’s why our 570+ employees are as passionate about helping the community as they are keeping the lights on in New York State.

Our new report, Corporate Social Responsibility 2020, puts numbers, names, and faces to the many people at the New York ISO who volunteer, give to charities, and otherwise step up to help others. This annual report quantifies the power and size of our social responsibility footprint.

“Corporate responsibility is deeply engrained in our culture, and it’s something that we take very seriously,” said Rich Dewey, NYISO President and CEO. “Charity and volunteering come naturally to our staff. We know how to give back.”

The pages of this report detail some of our recent charitable donations, including quotes and photos from employees who comprise our civic-minded organization. The report also shows our outreach into local schools, STEAM programs, and college intern recruitment to prepare a new generation for the complex task of running an electric grid. The diversity of our staff is highlighted, as well as our role integrating clean energy technology onto the grid.

For more information on how our powerful purpose positively impacts our neighbors, view the report here.

We are an independent, not-for-profit corporation responsible for operating the state’s bulk electricity grid, administering New York’s competitive wholesale electricity markets, conducting comprehensive long-term planning for the state’s electric power system, and advancing the technological infrastructure of the electric system serving the Empire State.
