PRESS RELEASE | NYISO Names Daniel C. Hill as Board Chair
Rensselaer, NY - The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) Board of Directors today announced that Daniel C. Hill was named chair of the Board of Directors. Mr. Hill takes over the role from Ms. Ave Bie whose term concludes on April 21, 2020. Ms. Bie will continue to serve on the board and take over for Mr. Daniel Hill as vice chair.

We’re grateful for her leadership, focus, and commitment,” said Rich Dewey, president and CEO of the NYISO. “Mr. Hill brings a strong technology and cyber security background, and deep familiarity with NYISO operations and decades of industry experience to his new role. This will prove invaluable to the NYISO team as we continue our work on maintaining reliability, building the grid of the future, and helping to meet the state’s ambitious renewable energy goals.”
Mr. Hill has served on the NYISO board since April of 2013. In that time, Mr. Hill was named Vice Chair in April 2019, and has served as Chair of the Audit & Compliance Committee, and the Commerce & Compensation Committee.
Daniel C. Hill
Mr. Hill is the former senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO) of Exelon Corporation from 2003-2012, where he managed all aspects of the company’s information technology and telecommunications functions. While at Exelon, Mr. Hill was engaged in many complex business and technology transformation initiatives including Advanced Metering Infrastructure and related Smart Grid technology. He retired from Exelon in March 2012.
Mr. Hill worked in various technology and management positions at Commonwealth Edison Company, a predecessor to Exelon, from 1983 to 2000.
NYISO Board of Directors
The NYISO’s 10-member board of directors is a diverse body comprised of individuals with backgrounds in the electric industry, finance, information technology, public service and the law. Members of the board are required by the NYISO’s federally-approved tariff to be independent and unaffiliated with any market participant.
